The 6th graders were back today, and some who were groggy and ready for the weekend on Friday were back to their normal selves today. Today we did a really quick warmup, and then went straight into the fourth section. Unfortuantely, we still haven't finished the piece. So, we are pushing back the performance date until next Wednesday or the week after. Ms. Donk says she really hopes we'll be able to finish tomorrow or Wednesday. I really am excited for the finished product. I can't wait to see them run all four sections together, and I can't wait for the performance.
Little Ms. Trinity is really trucking along. Everyday she's looking better and better doing her complex solo. She's getting really comfortable with it, so she's starting to let go and really dance it. It's amazing watching her dance, because you'd swear she's been taking formal classes for years. It just so happens that later in the fourth section Ms. Donk gave a group sone of the same choreography from Trinity's solo. Once they were trying to learn it, they got winded quickly and they kept bruising and beating themselves up. In the locker room after class I heard one of them telling Trinity "you make it look so easy." And she really does, she really is an inspiration.
Today class stopped just short of Joseph's solo. It should be interesting helping him learn the choreography, because he's so trained and talented. The difference between his talent and Trinity's talent is that his came directly and solely from training, while Trinity's is purely natural.
I'm beginning to see that I really enjoy working with kids and teaching dance. It almost feels like this is what I'm supposed to do. I enjoy it so much that I actually look forward to going into class and working with them everyday. I'm really going to miss them once this year is over...
